Your face shape should be one of the main considerations when choosing your new haircut. 

Firstly you need to decide what shape your face is.

You can do this a number of ways, you can either simply look at the outline of your face and if it is obvious, should match up with one of the face shapes shown below.

Another option is to sit in front of a mirror and draw the outline of your face on the mirror with a lipstick.
